PETALING JAYA: Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) intercity train services in the southern region have been disrupted because of a derailed cargo train at the Genuang station in Segamat, Johor, Wednesday.

All passenger trains to the region were expected to encounter delays of two hours or more, according to a statement from KTM Berhad.

The affected trains are as below.

Train 1: Express Rakyat (Butterworth-Woodlands), Train 13: Express Sinaran Selatan (Kuala Lumpur-Woodlands), Train 15: Express Sinaran Timuran (Tumpat-Woodlands) and Train 27: Express Senandung Timuran (Tumpat-Woodlands).

Passengers of these trains will alight at the Segamat station. They will be transported by bus to the Labis Station where they will continue their journey to Woodlands by train.

Train 12: Express Sinaran Selatan (Woodlands-Kuala Lumpur) and Train 26 Express Senandung Timuran (Woodlands-Tumpat).

The services of these train have been cancelled from Woodlands-Segamat. The Segamat-Kuala Lumpur and Segamat-Tumpat services, however, will still go ahead.

The Shuttle Train 64 (Woodlands-Gemas) has been cancelled altogether.

Remedial works are expected to be completed by midnight Wednesday. All train services are expected to run as per schedule Thursday. Affected passengers can get a refund for their tickets or change the date of their journey.

28 September 2011 - Perkhidmatan KTM Intercity di Sektor Selatan mengalami gangguan ekoran insiden kegelinciran yang berlaku di Stesen Genuang, Segamat, Johor di kilometer 596.75 – 597.0 pada hari ini, jam 11.50 pagi.

Perkhidmatan di tren sektor Selatan mengalami gangguan akibat insiden kegelinciran tren kargo yang melibatkan enam kontena kargo membawa muatan simen. Tren kargo yang terlibat adalah dalam perjalanan dari Padang Rengas, Kedah ke Pasir Gudang, Johor.

Ekoran daripada situasi tersebut, beberapa perkhidmatan KTM Intercity telah mengalami gangguan iaitu:

Tren No. 1 – Ekspres Rakyat (Butterworth – Woodlands) – Perkhidmatan tren akan ditamatkan di Stesen Segamat, penumpang kemudiannya akan dipindahkan ke Stesen Labis menggunakan bas dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Stesen Woodlands menggunakan keretapi.

Tren No. 12 – Ekspres Sinaran Selatan (Woodlands - Sentral Kuala Lumpur) – Perkhidmatan tren daripada Woodlands – Segamat akan dibatalkan. Penumpang akan memulakan perjalanan daripada bermula daripada Stesen Segamat ke Sentral Kuala Lumpur.

Tren No. 13 – Ekspres Sinaran Selatan (Sentral Kuala Lumpur – Woodlands) – Perkhidmatan akan ditamatkan di Stesen Segamat, penumpang kemudiannya dipindahkan menggunakan bas ke Stesen Labis dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Stesen Woodlands menggunakan keretapi.

Tren No. 15 – Ekspres Sinaran Timuran (Tumpat – Woodlands) – Perkhidmatan tren akan ditamatkan di Stesen Segamat, penumpang akan dipindahkan ke Stesen Labis menggunakan bas dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Stesen Woodlands menggunakan keretapi.

Tren No. 26 - Ekspres Senandung Timuran (Woodlands – Tumpat) – Perkhidmatan tren daripada Woodlands – Segamat akan dibatalkan. Penumpang akan memulakan perjalanan daripada Stesen Segamat ke Stesen Tumpat sahaja.

Tren No. 27 – Ekspres Senandung Timuran (Tumpat – Woodlands) – Perkhidmatan tren akan ditamatkan di Stesen Segamat, penumpang akan dipindahkan ke Stesen Labis menggunakan bas dan meneruskan perjalanan ke Stesen Woodlands menggunakan keretapi.

Tren Shuttle No. 64 – (Woodlands – Gemas) – Dibatalkan.

Tiada kemalangan jiwa dilaporkan kerana kegelinciran ini melibatkan tren kargo sahaja namun semua tren yang mengalami gangguan perkhidmatan dijangka mengalami kelewatan melebihi dua jam.

Para penumpang boleh meminta pemulangan tambang penuh untuk perkhidmatan yang dibatalkan ataupun menukar semula tarikh perjalanan. Kerja-kerja membaikpulih landasan sedang dijalankan dan landasan dijangka pulih pada tengah malam ini.

Train services in the southern sector were affected due to the incident which made 6 cargo containers carrying cement. The cargo train that was involved was en route to Pasir Gudang, Johor from Padang Rengas, Kedah.

Due to the derailment, several KTM Intercity services were affected. They are:

Train 26 - Ekspres Senandung Timuran (Woodlands - Tumpat) - Train services from Woodlands - Segamat will be cancelled. Passengers will need to start their journey from Segamat to reach Tumpat.

Train 27 - Ekspres Senandung Timura (Tumpat - Woodlands) - Train services will be terminated at Segamat Station, passengers will transfer onto a bus to Labis Station and will continue their jouney to Woodlands CIQ using the train.

Train Shuttle 64 - (Woodlands - Gemas) - Cancelled.

No loss of life has been reported as the derailment involves only a goods train. However, all other trains will be experiencing delays up to 2hrs.

Passengers may get a full refund or reschedule their date of travel. Repair works to the tracks are ongoing and it's expected to end by midnight.
