The NEL puzzles me... 1500V DC OHL....  PGL overrun.... Tunnel being different between NE4 and NE3... NE2's location.... Turbines...

I would really want answers to the mysteries of NEL

Punggol overrun, I don't really know what's up about it? Other than, it's quite common to see overrun sidings at terminal stations.

There are different tunnel types, one built using Cut and Cover, and another built using the Tunnel Boring Machine.
I don't travel on NEL a lot, so I can't quite answer your doubts on the tunnel differences.

Turbines are installed in tunnels to (from what I remembered) ensure fresh air blowing towards passengers' faces in the event of an emergency, like a train fire.

Fresh air will be blown towards passengers' faces, and hot smoke blown away from them. So to ensure safety in that sense.

If you get on board a NEL train and stand at the viewing space, try to look out for a straight track running for some 100+ metres. That is the approximate location of the future station. 

That being said, we do not know if LTA will actually really commit to building this station. For all you know, LTA may not even want to build it at all and just renumber all the stations accordingly.

The signalling system upgrade will not happen soon. Probably,  it may be done concurrently with the mid-life refurbishment of the C751A trains. As a good gauge, the mid-life refurbishment of the NEL should be done anytime between 2022 to 2026, supposing it takes about three to four years to upgrade all infrastructure and assets.
