Installation of sound barriers along tracks

Hey there everyone! Smile

I believe I have posted this in Buzz! before, but I wish to make it a discussion lol.

Forgive me if I am outdated, but I noticed that sound barriers had been installed between Bukit Batok & Jurong East stations along North-South Line.

What's the reason & purpose behind this, and are there any other tracks around the the local MRT network that has these too? Thank you! Smile

The reasons behind it is to minimise the noise from train running to the residents nearby.

Other than Bukit Batok to Jurong East, so far i know Bishan to Braddell, Simei to Tampines and Jurong East to Chinese Garden stretch got the noise barriers if not wrong.

I remeber Kranji station got bars. Maybe it is the sound barrier? The bar is installed until the sleeper construction site.

The bar is there for quite long alrrady, maybe the installation works for noise barriers at Kranji is underway?

Those spiky things are most likely lightning conductors. There was an incident involving a lightning strike on an MRT train at that particular area many months back.

A segment of the track between Tanah Merah and Bedok Stations have been installed with the bars used to hold Sound Barriers. These bars are located near Bedok Station (where the EB and WB track split). These bars are first spotted 2 days ago.

Apologise for the late notification as I totally forgot about it until now.

Noise barrier are currently installing at these locations along the NSEWL:

Yew Tee - Kranji (Yew Tee Stn - before Sungei Kadut Factories)
Marsiling - Woodlands (Marsiling Stn - Woodlands St 12)
Woodlands - Admiralty (Blk 668 Woodlands Ring Rd - Admiralty track crossover)
Whole of Queenstown, Commonwealth Station
