List in Order (Chronological order)

Total No. of CT251 on Service: 0

Last Updated: 31 Jan 2019

I Thought I'll get the ball rolling since this will be the first of a kind rolling stock in Singapore.

Some details on the Thomson Line Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) Train:
  • 4 Car Formation
  • 5 Doors On Each side of a car/10 doors per car (Speculated)  (Confirmed)
  • 53 Trains (Updated to 91 Trains)
  • Third Rail
  • Trains Should be able to operate on ERL ERL and TSL to merge and operate as one line Thomson-East Cost Line (TEL)

Now given all these details, who do you think should tender and why?

I have a few companies in mind which i would wish they would tender for TEL CT251, they are:

1) Kawasaki Heavy Industries
2) Hyundai Rotem
3) Bombardier

Poll:Who Do You Think Should/Will Win the CT251 Tender?

1. Alstom Transport S.A. / Alstom Transport (S) Pte Ltd Consortium
2. Hyundai Rotem Company
3. Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd / Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. / CSR Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd #
4. Construcciones Y Auxiliar De Ferrocarriles, S.A.
5. Siemens Pte Ltd / CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd
6. Bombardier (Singapore) Pte Ltd / Bombardier Transportation GmbH & Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles Company Ltd Consortium

I wish Hyundai Rotem won the tender since they havn't won the contract yet. They had produced the driverless metro rolling stocks before like Sao Paulo Line 4 and Sin Bundang Line.

Are there any official sources that state that the TSL Trains will be 5 doors per side instead of 4? I've tried searching online but all were speculations that it'll be 5.

Personally, I feel that KHI is too mainstream... So.. No..
Next, We already have like Alstom already so also no..

Basically, i just want something new. Smile . Something that is not so mainstream and have a high class feel. Thus, i voted for 2,4 and 5.

Let's share your discussions about the different companies too ! Share your views why u chose them etc. ! Vote in the Poll too !

I believe that everyone has their own opinion and should have different views Smile

For me:

1. Kawasaki-CSR Qingdao Sifang - out.
They are already busy with C151A B2 & C151Bs. Let them focus all their resources and time on the mainlines.

2. Siemens-CSR Zhuzhou - out
No offence, but the C651s have left me with a very bad impression.

3. Alstom - neutral.
i) Personal favourite brand, high reliability, most experience in Singapore's underground and fully automated metro system, as seen on NEL and CCL.
ii) Let other brands have a chance to be on par with Alstom.

4. Bombardier - iffy
While it is wonderful to have a new player in Singapore's underground and fully automated metro system and be on par with Alstom, I shall reserve comments until DTL opens.

5. Hyundai Rotem - iffy
Unsure of its credentials, comments reserved.

6. CAF - in
Awesome to have a new player. Would like to see a CAF stock.

Basically, Hyundai and Siemens, I don't have anything positive for them only just doubts over their reliability.

Just my personal opinions...

Wasn't Hyundai Rotem part of the consortium that built the C751Bs?
This account is no longer in use - I'd like to be known by another name, but.. I don't have the 10k points to pay for username change Tongue
