Well,

90031

Where the 3rd and 4th digit is the set number and last digit the car number.

But like CCL, we use just 3 digits when we discuss about the sets.

But the extra '0' in the 2nd digit, is it reserved for the 100th or later trains (for future expansion purposes)? Just like how NEL trains are identified (as in, for NEL trains, their third digit is always '0', but can become some other number in case of expansion).

* luacs1998 thinks we should just use the 1st 4 numbers, so it's easier to adapt if more DTL stocks come in.

NEL was harder imo, but soon, you'll get used to it.

For the Bombardier MOVIA C951 trains on the DTL, a typical set should look like this:

90011-90012-90013

Whereby...

the 1st digit is always a '9' (and in my terms, identify it as a DTL train);
the 2nd digit is always a '0';
the 3rd and 4th digit identifies the set number (in this case, '01');
the 5th digit is the car number, depending on position.

So the DTL trains identification convention is by their 1st, 3rd and 4th digit (i.e. '901').

However, some people will have different ways of identifying the train, just like NEL, where some prefer to report 001/002 as 7001/7002. For my case, I'll prefer to report the above example as '9001'.

With 73 trains for 42 km of track, quite reasonable. So I doubt new trains will come in in future.

Anyway, there isn't any MRT line operating independently with a 100 train fleet in Singapore. The depots definitely are too small to house everything.

There's Gali Batu, Kim Chuan and Changi depot to house the DTL trains. I think LTA is preparing for a lot of provisional spaces for trains for DTL.

I doubt LTA's plans to turn the existing CHD into a multi purpose depot.
