"Announcing the discontinuation of openBVE"
#1
Quote:Add-on developers who have started using the Get Add-ons system should port back to the classic install-it-yourself system. From this point on, no new submissions will be accepted - existing add-ons will continue to be downloadable for as long as this server exists, and will continue to be playable for as long as they are installed.

openBVE is discontinued. Very sad thing, as it has a future name and a big long road being planned. It really is a pity. Sad

Long live openBVE and BVESG. Blush

Not sure why it has discontinued. But maybe due to an argument in the UK.

We can do our own version of it. But it's just that we don't know how. Unless I missed someone out.

Maybe this is an opportunity to go explore other simulators? Other simulators do feature much more user-friendly route building tools and can be a great help to route building rather than coding. Smile

Also, i've heard on the BVE Worldwide forum from http://bveworldwide.unlimitedboard.com/t396p45-open-bve-discussion-board-closed that the current trainsimframework.org domain will lapse tmrw, but BVEStation is gonna modify the OB source code to link to their website, upload the forked OB to the BVEStation website and continue development of OB as a fork under another name (see: http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?t...4#msg18274). I wonder what will happen to the OB tools and managed content system since i got a new com 2 wks back and only installed the latest OB version (1.4.1.2), and haven't yet installed the OB tools from the "Create Add-ons" page yet as well as the demoroute.Sad

You need to consider the fact that OpenBVE and BVE are the only freeware train simulators that you can download. The rest are all payware.

And to addon to that, some of our computers can't run some those newer sims, because it's sometimes too graphics intensive. (Think OMSI)

It still can be played, whether you have the game or not. Just that you can get any more updates from the developer that is developing the game.
