Sentosa Express Discussion
#11
I somehow miss the old Sentosa Monorail (now scrapped), which consists of 7 stations. Their announcements also not too bad Smile.
I remember joyriding it with my parents when I was young. Haix, memories..

The Sentosa Express only promotes connectivity between the island and Singapore. It does not promote connectivity within the island itself. The Sentosa Monorail does just that, but since it was demolished, looks like we have to rely on buses for now.

The reason they have bus/tram services are to replace the old monorail system which brings you inside sentosa BUT its troublesome and the frequency are not consitence. Furthermore by having train service, it will not confuse people as train stations are bigger and easy to spot then bus stop.

During the monorail times, there were beach trams.
The routes of the trams include:
[b]- Underwater World->Siloso Beach
- Siloso Beach->Central Beach
/b]
The routes of the trams may be similar to that of today's but the vehicles used were different. The places on where to board the trams were also very difficult to locate. Sad
Thus, many visitors relied on the old Sentosa Monorail back then, as the monorail stations are easier to spot. This led to the Sentosa Monorail being packed full to the brim very often.

The stations looked very retro and it was only seating. They also used spanish solution. I would always go to Station no. 4 to board because I took the Cable car to Sentosa. So memoriable.....
