Jurong Region Line (JRL) Discussion
Looking at the artist impression of Tengah Station (stacked platforms) and the artist impression of Jurong East Station (stacked platforms and integrated with the existing Jurong East Station)(as seen on the Jurong Region Line page at the LTA website),

As well as the alignment of the Jurong Region Line tracks as shown on the URA master plan 2019,

It is possible that the Jurong Region Line services will be like this,

PKH - JP
CCK - JP
CCK - PR

Where PKH means Peng Kang Hill, JP means Jurong Pier, CCK means Choa Chu Kang, and PR means Pandan Reservoir.

This is possible because of Tengah has stacked island platforms for 2 lines to meet, and run the same section between Tengah and Choa Chu Kang.

For Bahar Junction, where the PKH-JP line and the CCK-JP line would meet, I believe there would also be 2 island platforms. The PKH-JP island platform at Jurong West Street 64/75 would be lower than the CCK-JP island platform at Jurong West Avenue 4. This is to allow the CCK-JP tracks to run over the PKH-JP island platform. The PKH-JP line would connect to the CCK-JP line at two points. One connecting point is along the North-East of Bahar Junction station, which is shown on the URA master plan 2019. The other connecting point is at the south of Bahar Junction, where the PKH-JP tracks would accend and merge into the CCK-JP tracks. The first connecting point is only to connect trains between the PKH-JP line and the JRL depot which is along the CCK-JP line. The other connecting point is for revenue service, to run the PKH-JP line service.

Operation wise, is similar to the way our Circle Line currently works, where trains run alternate to either destination A or destination B.

For example, for the stations between Bahar Junction and Jurong Pier, which will have the PKH-JP line and the CCK-JP line, the PKH-JP line and CCK-JP line will take turns to call at the stations.

Therefore, it would be helpful if the Land Transport Authority can publicise the Jurong Region Line as 3 separate services, similar to the 2 separate services on the Sengkang LRT and the Punggol LRT.

Looking at the map, it looks like the Land Transport Authority has already publicised the Jurong Region Line as 3 separate services, namely West, South, East.

Just like Sengkang LRT and Punggol LRT have West loop, East loop, Jurong Region Line will have West line, South line, East line. Or loop. Whatever. West loop, South loop, East Loop, also can.

West loop: PKH-JP
South loop: CCK-JP
East loop: CCK-PR

The frequency of the loops will be inter-dependent.

Yes, sections with only one loop will have 100% lower frequency than sections with two loops. Example: 2 minutes per train at sections with two loops, 4 minutes per train at sections with one loop.

But this is how the demand is distributed. The sections with two loops indeed have higher demand than the sections with one loop.

I look forward to the press release on the construction of Bahar Junction station, which the artist impression of Bahar Junction station will reveal the track layout at Bahar Junction station.

I believe the URA master plan 2019 omitted parts of the track layout at Bahar Junction station.

It should be one pair of track running between Jurong West Avenue 4 and Jurong West Street 64 (for the South loop), one pair of track running between Jurong West Street 75 and Jurong West Street 64 and merging with the South loop tracks at Jurong West Street 64 (for the West loop), and one single track running between Jurong West Street 75 and Jurong West Avenue 4 (to connect the West loop trains to the JRL depot which is along the South loop).

Jurong Region Line will have 3 loops.
West loop: PKH - JP
South loop: CCK - JP
East loop: CCK - PR

Where PKH means Peng Kang Hill, JP means Jurong Pier, CCK means Choa Chu Kang, PR means Pandan Reservoir.

Although the Jurong Region Line has 24 stations, in actual fact, because there will be 3 services overlapping one another,

West loop: 11 stations
South loop: 12 stations
East loop: 10 stations (in future, 15 stations)

Total = 33 - 38 stations, for the trains to operate.

Although there are 24 physical stations, the trains have to run an equivalent of 33-38 stations.

Same concept as the London Underground, where many rail lines share the same track sections and stations.

So, actually, although Jurong Region Line has 24 stations, it is equivalent to a MRT line that has 33-38 stations, such as the East West Line (33 stations) and Downtown Line (35 stations).

Thus, the Jurong Region Line is given the importance of a MRT line, although technically it is using the technology of the Sengkang LRT and Punggol LRT, but because it is using 2 times longer trains and 2 times longer stations (LRT 2 cars, JRL 4 cars), the capacity is equivalent to medium capacity MRT, and the number of stations the trains have to run in total is equivalent to a MRT line. The Jurong Region Line is as important as a MRT line.
