Since the PMSM trial would start next year, its about time the discussion as well as the monitoring of progress should start. Have any suspected trains? post it here Smile 

Note: Only 2 KHI trains will trial the new propulsion

NOTE: Currently, LTA has put the project on hold

UPDATE as of 311016: LTA has decided to cancel the EOL upgrading project and retire the KHI C151s. 

UPDATE as of 010117: LTA has decided to still proceed on with some trains.

I think 1 C651 can go for both PMSM, refurbishing and new signalling system, which will drag 3 months.

Wait. SIE will also get the same change out?

I thought the refurbishment tender was won by Siemens? Huh

Hii, to clarify, Siemens won the tender to refurbish the trains which only includes the interior and exterior. The traction or propulsion is not included in the tender. Similar to the KHI one when the tender to refurb was awarded

Propulsion upgrade/change out involves the removal of the current motor engine and installing a new one.

Hence, the rolling stock's accel/deaccel sound is going to change in future.

I think its a little confusing so let me break it down for you.

SMRT has awarded the Refurbishment, changeout of propulsion and testing/commissioning to the contractor SRE

SRE in turn tendered Siemens for the refurbishment of the interior only

While (I m not confirmed, but I think Toshiba is doing the PMSM for SIE)

So SRE job is to manage the project
