What is Reputation?
Reputation is the basic system of looking at who is a good member of the Forum and who isn't.
It is always good to point out members who have contributed to the train community with proper ways and methods and also on the other hand point out those that only caused troubles.
You see a "+1" Button below the user signature/post, somewhere near the "Like" Button . You will use this button to give out any positive or negative reputation.
The Reputation system is completely traceable and thus any reputation abuse would sure be detected and would result in Warning points for the offending user. Therefore here are the rules and regulations of the reputation system
Positive
You can give the person a positive reputation for helping you with something
You can give the person a positive reputation for uploading something u like, for eg. Videos, OpenBVE Routes
You can give someone a positive rep if you like or agree with his or her post.
You can give someone a positive rep if you think he or she contributed alot to the forums. Eg. In Terms of Information, Developing OpenBVE routes, etc
Negative
You can give someone a negative Rep if they did something in appropriate.
You can give someone a negative rep for being rude, unkind or spouting vulgar.
You can give someone a negative rep for breaking the forum rules. Eg: Spamming.
You Cannot
You can't give someone a negative reputation just because you don't like them
You can't give someone a negative reputation without any valid reason.
You can't attack someone's reputation for "payback"
Giving negative reputation because you don't agree with what was said is not an appropriate use of the reputation system. People are entitled to their own opinions, and just because you don't agree doesn't mean the user was wrong or not contributing to the conversation.
Deliberate, targeted and excessive awarding of reputation in an attempt to significantly alter another member's reputation is considered abusive, both when awarding positive or negative reputation. The reputation system is to be used for feedback and not for belittling or discrediting other members. This does not mean that you cannot award negative feedback; just that common sense and restraint should be observed.
Report on Misuse of the Reputation System
Should you have received a negative reputation that you felt was unfairly given or if you felt that someone has abused the reputation system, please report them at the "Report on Misuse of Reputation or PM System here" Thread in the Help Centre of the forum. Do not retaliate by awarding the offending user a negative point.
Warning
Anyone caught abusing reputation will receive a Warning. For multiple offences the offending user will get a non-negotiable ban, so please use the system wisely and help our good members to build up a good reputation! |
