Central MTR station has been plunged into darkness after a power failure hit its concourse and Island Line platform for over three hours.

Most of the shops in the MTR concourse near World-Wide House, including a 7-Eleven convenience store and Maxim’s Bakery, suspended business following the outage at around 3pm. As of 6:45pm, the blackout was continuing.

Trains bound for Kennedy Town, and the MTR gates, were not affected as passengers continued to get on and off trains and pass through the gates without any difficulties, despite the darkness.
